Louis Vuitton Celebrates Its Collaboration With Nike
One of Virgil Abloh’s last projects for Louis Vuitton is being celebrated in a grand exhibition that opened on Saturday in Brooklyn, New York. A series of events surrounding the Louis Vuitton and Nike Air Force 1, designed by Virgil Abloh, pay homage to the designer and this anticipated collaboration ahead of the launch on June 9th.
The Exhibition
The 47 limited-edition versions of the Nike Air Force 1 imagined by Virgil Abloh will be on display from May 20th through May 31st in a new installation that is open to the public. The immersive exhibition features each pair displayed in physical and virtual form in unique spaces that reflect Virgil’s creative processes. Each display showcases a 3D hologram of the shoe as well as the actual show itself. Some of Virgil’s most prolific quotes are presented within the exhibit. Additionally, multiple art installations all over the city tease the exhibition. Locations for these mini-installs include Grand Central Terminal, The South Street Seaport, and more.

First presented as part of the Spring/Summer 2022 Men’s Collection, the shoes will soon be released globally as part of an inclusive digital activation. Ahead of the release, pre-orders will be made available to members of the LV community, according to a press release. While Virgil designed 47 bespoke versions for the show, Louis Vuitton’s in-store release will see 9 of them, covering both mid-tops (EUR 2,500) and low-tops (EUR 2,000).
The versions included in the launch are the classic monochrome white sneaker as well as two-toned versions in white with green, red or blue. These colorful details are an ode to Virgil’s work at the Maison, nodding to his most important rainbow motif.
Not Your Average Air Force 1
The Louis Vuitton Nike Air Force 1 sneakers by Virgil Abloh are manufactured in the Maison’s factory in Venice, Italy, crafted from fine leather and materials. Each version of the iconic sneaker fuses important codes from both heritage brands, combining the Nike and Louis Vuitton DNA under Virgil’s direction makes for a truly one-of-kind piece.
