I Love This Hermès Steeple 28 Bag But Not Its Price

While most attention is paid to Hermès bags surrounding the Birkin and Kelly, the House offerings far exceed these two products. I don’t have the same luck others do, finding an item I want on the Hermès site (really, I am looking for a bi-color Chypre Sandal, is that too much to ask for?!), but I know plenty of people who swear by drops on site weekly at certain times.

So while I was trying my luck to find a new pair of sandals for summer, I peeked over at the bag offerings readily available online. And I ran into the Hermès Steeple Bag. I looked at it and thought, yep, this would make for a great daily carry! I even thought I might buy it.

And then I saw the price.

Obviously, I should not be surprised; it’s coming in a big orange box, after all. I am unsure what I expected, but I was hoping for more like $3,000.

The Perfect Hermès Daily Carry

This is the Hermès Steeple 28 Bag in H Plume Canvas with the Maillons & Co motif and calfskin trim (in Swift leather). This bag is unique and straightforward for a daily tote, standing apart from the usual bags we see being toted around.

As with many Hermès items, the bag pays homage to the House’s deep equestrian roots. The handles play off a rider’s whip, and there is a bag charm in the shape of a stirrup that can be removed.

Other details include a large interior back pocket, an interior D-ring on the side to attach your keychain, and a removable bag bottom that gives the bag additional shape and structure. Dimensions are 11″ L x 11.2″ H and 6.7″ D. This bag is very Hermès but has many touches that make it stand apart.

And the price, well, it’s $6,100. You can’t always get what you want for the price you want.
