Dior Channels A Distinctly Parisian Mood For Fall 2024

Yesterday, Maria Grazia Chiuri revealed her Fall 2024 collection for Dior, an instant step back in time. During the design process, Chiuri looked to the Dior archives for inspiration, specifically the origins of Dior ready-to-wear, which launched in 1967 as the recognizable Miss Dior line.

The late 1960s were a time of change and transition. Overall, there was an increasing shift in fashion away from haute couture. Much like today, that first Miss Dior embraced Dior’s history in a modern way, nodding to Dior’s expertise in tailoring but rethought through a more relaxed lens.

The collection was monumental to both the House and fashion as a whole, and this season, that same contemporary spirit of the late 60s and early 70s is explored once again.

The palette is one of classic neutrals, featuring shades of black, white, and beige gabardine. The Miss Dior Logo seen throughout dates back to the inception of RTW at the House, and it was that storied motif that was integral to Maria Grazia Chiuri’s design process, serving as a starting point.

Ironically, or not so ironically, its ethos perfectly aligns with Maria Grazia Chiuri’s, as it was the first time a luxury House had used a logo to decorate clothing and accessories. That small step marked a significance as a shift began to take hold in how women presented themselves in the world.

The New Miss Dior

That logo rejoins the Dior lineup this season and is again shown on clothing and accessories. Small flap bags feature the logo in various ways, from an embossed leather logo bag to an all-over studded logo and more.

Miss Dior is as poignant this season as it was back in 1967. These logo bags sit alongside House icons like the Lady Dior, Dior 30 Montaigne, and the new Dior Toujours Bag, which are reinvented in cross-stitched embossed leather.
