Archival Details And Bold Colors Took Over The Gucci Spring 2025 Runway

Sabato De Sarno continues his conversation with the past on the Spring 2025 runway, this season inspired by moments in time and interactions in life that, though small, have a big impact. From the city to the sea, those moments inspired De Sarno’s Spring 2025 collection, which evokes a free-spirited aura.

The collection nods to the Gucci archives and specifically references the 1960s. Headscarves and oversized sunglasses evoke the actresses and style icons of the time, while an equestrian-inspired Horsebit motif appears on matching separates inspired by silhouettes from the same decade.

Odes to the Archives

The bags, too, offer a modern take on archival details. That same Horsebit print appears on a mini version of the Gucci B Bag, while the Bamboo 1947 also had a big presence on the runway this season. Following up on the House’s Bamboo 1947: Then and Now Exhibition, a vintage Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag given a one-of-a-kind touch by painter Nami Yokoyama appeared on the runway alongside new versions of the House classic.

Meanwhile, an entirely new silhouette enters the picture: a shoulder-strap bucket bag fitted with an oversized Horsebit detail. Models hand-carried it in leather, canvas, and a zebra print iteration. The iconic Jackie 1961 makes a return to the runway as well, shown in colors that have now become the staple palette of De Sarno’s Gucci.
